# Data sources and compliance

> Where OTB Studio's Belgian company data comes from, how fresh it is, and how personal data in it is handled.

## Sources

| Data | Source |
| - | - |
| Identity, address, activities, status | The Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (KBO/BCE) |
| Annual accounts, ownership and mandates | Filings at the National Bank of Belgium (NBB), and for some mandates other public sources. `sourceSystem` names which. An NBB `reference` or `sourceReference` lets you check a figure at the source |

`ebitda` and `healthIndicator` are derived by the source, not filed. The [field reference](/field-reference.md) marks them.

## Freshness

The data is refreshed regularly from the sources. Every record carries `snapshotDate`, the day it was last refreshed, so every answer is an answer as of a date.

## Personal data

Director and mandate records are personal data. The API returns only what a mandate is: the person's name, role, dates and the company it is held through. Political party, remuneration and home addresses are never returned, and people the source marks as hidden are left out.

Your use of the data is governed by the [terms of service](https://otbstudio.ai/terms). How we process personal data is in the [privacy policy](https://otbstudio.ai/privacy).
